About Us

I have been a Nurse since 1990. I have worked in a few Nursing fields, including Oncology, Psych, and mainly, Long Term Care / Rehab. The one thing that I have noticed while working in these fields, is how much time and how much money is spent on wasting unwanted / unusable medications. When a patient, or resident, discharges from a Nursing facility, most of the medications cannot go home with them. These medications are to be destroyed by two Nurses. Normally it will be the Director of Nursing Services and their Assistant Director. Both of these Nurses are the highest paid Nurses in that facility.

Since this is a very monotonous / tedious task, the cards of medications normally get stored away under double lock and key. The storage of these medications grows so large that nobody wants to take on this mundane task, so the medication storage continues to grow until there is no more storage space. Then, and only then, do the Nurses take a couple of days to destroy these medications.

A few of the main reasons that the destruction of these medications is “Placed onto the back burner”, is because:

  • It takes FOREVER to do
  • You can pop only 1 medication at a time out of the blister pack
  • After popping a few blister packs, your fingers hurt like hell!
  • It seems like a waste of time and money
  • It takes away from Patient care.
  • It puts you in a very bad mood.

There are more reasons as to why Nurses dislike this task, but those are some of the main reasons.

In January 2024, I was working for a medium sized nursing corporation. I was in one of the larger facilities and saw a couple of my coworkers (Corporate Nurses), in the Director of Nurses office. I went in to say hello, and saw that they were Popping medications out of the blister packs, one by one. So, it was two Corporate Nurses and the Director of Nurses removing one pill at a time, out of the hundreds of medication blister packs. I did a little bit of math and realized that our company was paying somewhere in the neighborhood of $3000.00 just for those three to sit and destroy pills for 8 hours!

I asked the Head Nurse, “Why don’t you guys just go buy that machine that will pop all of the pills out at the same time?” She informed me that there has never been a machine that would do that. I shut my mouth immediately! I got home that evening, and looked all over the internet, and sure enough, there WERE NO machines that did that. My wife and brother in law were in the front room, when I came in and announced, “I think I have a million dollar idea!” I presented the idea to them, and we all agreed to pursue this venture. I made a call to a patent attorney and got a patent search started. After about 3 weeks, the patent attorney emailed me and said that no patents for any machine like this was found and we had the green light to start working.

I tried to make some of the parts out of wood, but found that to be almost impossible. My brother in law suggested that we buy a 3D printer. I agreed and ordered a cheap Endure 3 3D printer and we were on our way. After a few months of trial and error, we realized that we were going to need a better printer. Derrick purchased a Bambu Lab P1P and that was a lot better than what we started with. I went ahead and bought a second P1P. After trying a lot of different ideas for the machine, we finally found the correct design that worked like a charm. This machine will punch out up to 31 medications within seconds. After seeing that the machine was working, as it should, we applied for a provisional patent, (Patent Pending). It took about 6-8 weeks to receive the Patent Pending status, but after we received it, we were open for business.
